what does merkled do?

merkled studio specializes in designing and creating for metal, wood, textiles, felt and leather.

merkled creates custom furniture, fixtures and small-run products for both residential and commercial spaces and offers consulting services regarding appropriate material usage, building and manufacturing process decisions. we aid in the design process and assist clients with their specific needs and have built a strong business reputation based on quality, aesthetic and trust.

merkled strives to make and guide design decisions that are good for quality, good for health, and are environmentally responsible. merkled products are made locally and we work very closely with local vendors and companies.

who is merkled?

located dually in portland, oregon and chicago, illinois, merkled is the project and company of designer kari merkl.

kari merkl has been designing and creating objects of function and beauty for the past 8 years and has 12 years experience in the design field. prior to her move to the northwest from colorado, kari received a bachelor of environmental design from the university of colorado's architecture program. this eventually led her to the world of industrial design. her background in spatial esthetic has informed her sense of conceptual design and hands on fabrication, allowing her to move freely between both worlds. kari’s work reflects her own appreciation for mechanics and craft.

merkled studio's work has been shown at galleries and retail stores around the world including the ny moma design store, velocity art and design, midi design store and many others.
